The costs depend on the power of your stove and the kWh price of your supplier.
An electric sauna heater consumes power based on the specified power in kilowatts (kW). Our Harvia Cilindro, for example, has a capacity of 9 kW. If it is on for one hour, it consumes 9 kWh.
According to Pricewise, the average electricity price in the Netherlands is around €0.40 per kWh. With a 9 kW stove, you will then end up with approximately €3.60 per hour. If the price is higher, for example €0.45 per kWh, it costs around €4.00 per hour.
You can easily calculate this yourself: power (kW) × price per kWh = cost per hour. The price per kWh depends on your electricity supplier. You can find this information on your energy bill.
A Tønsauna is usually up to temperature within half an hour. After that, you can often enjoy several sauna sessions for another hour or more. So on average, a night of sauna at home costs around €3 to €4, which is still a lot cheaper than a visit to a sauna complex.
