A wood-fired Ducktub gives your guests a unique wellness experience. Here you can read how to use, heat and maintain it responsibly.
You can fill the hot tub by hanging a garden hose in the hot tub. Our Ducktubs are standard equipped with a Gardena coupling including a ball valve. The advantage of this is that it allows you to empty the hot tub easily. You connect the garden hose and open the ball valve. You should also deflate the stove when emptying. You do this by opening or pulling out the heater stop on the stove.
Before you start firing, it is important that the bath is filled to 10 cm below the rim. In this way, the stove is filled with water. If you do not do this, the natural circulation will not work and the stove will not be able to cool itself. This can cause the stove to break down.
The best way to heat your stove is the Swiss method. The Swiss method provides the most efficient way of heating and burns the longest. To heat the hot tub, it is important that you use unprocessed firewood. If the Ducktub comes with an insulating cover, it is useful to leave it on the hot tub while heating. This way, the water does not lose its heat immediately.
In this video, we explain how firing works:
The ideal hot tub temperature is around 38 degrees. Perhaps a bit cooler in the summer than in the winter.
When the water gets warmer than 40 degrees, this can already be dangerous. Therefore, always keep a thermometer in the water to monitor the temperature.
Are there bubbles, jets or underwater lights on the hot tub? Then you can easily switch it on and off by pressing the buttons on the outside of the hot tub. The buttons for the bubble, jet and LED systems work on the basis of air pressure, which means that the button must be fully pressed and released to switch the systems on and off.
To keep the water in the hot tub as fresh as possible, it is good to get into the hot tub as clean as possible. You do this by always rinsing yourself off beforehand so that there is no cream and/or soap left on your body. Then walk to the hot tub in your slippers or shoes, so you don't bring dirt from outside into the water.
Where there is fire, it is of course important to be careful. We recommend that you never leave children in the hot tub unsupervised. In addition, it is important to never touch the stovepipe. Is there a heat shield around it (like the image below)? Then it offers protection against the hot stove tube, but always be careful. Also, always check the temperature before you step into the hot tub. Water that is too hot, from 40 degrees, can already be dangerous.

When you're done enjoying the hot tub, you can turn off the fire in the wood stove by itself. Is there a cover? Then we recommend placing it on the Ducktub. This keeps the water warm for when you want to go back in the next morning!
